Research on “too much and too little water” for too many people in the climate system under change.

The objective of our research is to bridge the boundaries between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, and solid earth. By doing so, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of the processes that shape the climate system and improve our predictions and to improve seasonal, decadal, and longer-term climate predictions and story lines.

We develop alternative futures under different assumptions1). But, we accept the following: “The key here is a simple matter: in such a complex issue we cannot have certainty, and we don’t claim it” (S. Weart, AIP, 2006).
